The Texas Longhorns take the field Thursday for their traditional Thanksgiving game.
Although this year it’s without their traditional rival, Texas A&M.
With the Aggies in the S.E.C. this year, UT added Texas Christian University to the schedule for the holiday game.
Longhorn Head Coach Mack Brown says there are several similarities between the old rivals, A&M, and this year’s opponent.
“They’ve been a BCS team. It’s an old Southwest Conference foe," Brown said at a Monday press conference. "I know our players are excited about it because it once again showcases high school football in the state of Texas with two great programs. And at the same time, our players know a lot of their players. So it really will not be that much different from the A&M game.”
Texas comes into the game with an outside shot at the Big 12 title. The team will need to win its last two games to have any chance at the title.
Kickoff is Thursday at 6:30pm. The game will be televised on ESPN.
