KUTX 98.9 named "Best Radio Station" in the Austin Chronicle Music Industry Awards for Third Year

AUSTIN, Texas —March 8, 2016—KUTX 98.9 was voted “Best Radio Station,” while “Twine Time” and its longtime host Paul Ray were named “Best Radio Program” and “Best Radio Host” respectively in the Austin Chronicle’s annual Austin Music Industry Awards last night at the Palm Door.

This is the third consecutive year the station has earned the “Best Radio Station” distinction since launching in January 2013.

It’s the second consecutive year “Twine Time” has won the “Best Radio Program” category. Ray, who hosted “Twine Time” for nearly 40 years, died in January.

“This past year has been a roller coaster for us. The high being the validation of all the work we’ve done to bring you our best approximation of the Austin Music Experience and receiving this award for the third consecutive year. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” said Matt Reilly, KUTX program director. “The low, of course, was the loss of a member of our family – Paul Ray. His impact on Austin and Texas music was enormous and we miss him terribly. We will do our utmost to be good stewards of Paul’s legacy and the local music scene that he helped create.”
