The Southeastern Conference said it is not possible for Bevo to safely be on the field during Saturday’s game because of space limitations. But the University of Georgia’s English bulldog mascot will be attending the game in Atlanta.

The Southeastern Conference is also requiring the university to use available resources and video footage to identify individuals who threw objects onto the field during Saturday's loss to Georgia.

Sunday's event — headlined by a Pitbull concert — drew large, sweaty crowds. Three people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

UT and the University of Oklahoma first announced their intentions to leave the Big 12 Conference for the SEC in 2021. Both schools are poised to leave the Big 12 one year early — after the 2023-2024 athletic year.

The university is seeking to leave the Big 12 along with the University of Oklahoma, a move that would have wide-ranging impact on Texas college athletics.
