The Travis County Clerk says she's looking to hire dozens of people for Election Day.
“We have a critical need for about 100 election workers,” Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir said in a media release. “We’ve recruited quite a few precinct judges who are new to the process, and they need help finding clerks to work with them.”
One precinct judge from the Democratic and Republican parties is assigned to each polling station. They are supposed to find their own clerks, but many didn't come through at the last minute, according to Travis County Clerk spokesperson Mary Faro.
"Also at some of our locations we are actually setting up double processing stations, so we'll have twice the amount of workers at our largest turnout precincts," she told KUT News.
The hours are 6 am until 8 pm on election day. Clerks will be paid $10/hr and alternate judges get paid $12/hr.
