Almost eight percent of households in Midland are rich, making it the most wealth-concentrated city in Texas. That's according to a new U.S. Census Bureau report, which defines wealthy households as those in the top five percent, earning $191,469 or more from 2006 through 2011.
Midland ranked 14th nationally. Houston ranked 24th. Austin didn’t crack the top 25.
Topping the list was the Bridgeport, Connecticut area, which includes Greenwich – a community that has attracted the wealthy for decades. In that area, 17.9 percent of households fall in the upper 5 percent.
